National Pizza Day
National Pizza Day is an event held every February 9th. In 2019 it was held on Saturday while in 2020 it is on Sunday.
Some but not all Pizzerias will offer National Pizza Day specials. You can get in on one of many deals throughout the United States. Italy, where pizza is believed to have originated, there is no national pizza day. However, there is a National Espresso Day on April 17th. In America there is also a Pizza Party Day which is the 3rd Friday of every May.
Approximately one third of all pizza’s ordered are pepperoni and cheese. The first known pizzeria in the U. S. A. was Lombardi’s in New York, N.Y. in 1905. Lombardi’s is in the Pizza Hall of Fame. Millions of Italians immigrated to the U.S. in the 1800’s and early 1900’s bringing this great Italian dish to America.
Whether you love thin slice New York style, thick stuffed Chicago style, Sicilian flat bread or Detroit Style pizza join the delicious fun on National Pizza Day.
